Post July 4 Meeting

We are planning a parents’ meeting a few days after the 4th of July parades and festivities are over at the city library again where we met the first time.  We will notify you about the date soon.  Please show up at that meeting dressed as though we are leaving for camp in the Devil Pups approved arrival uniform:

White t-shirt
Levis

Belt

White socks

Tennis shoes

Empty bag that you will be putting your gear in to go to  camp.

We are checking to find out if we need to make any gear or supply changes so we are not scrambling before camp or on the morning as we leave.

Be sure to go to the check list on the Devil Pups, Inc. website to know what to pack for camp:

25 Jun 2014 - Dinner at Buffalo Wild Wings

How does having a meal at the new Buffalo Wild Wings on River Road (221 S. River Road) while donating to the youth program called Devil Pups sound?  Join us at any time during the day or for dinner from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. and, if you present one of the tickets in the attached link below, 10% of the cost of your meal will be donated to Southern Utah Devil Pups by Buffalo Wild Wings Restaurant.  It's a win-win!!

Print out the tickets in the link above (Hint: use the tiny printer icon just above the thumbnail shot of the tickets) and present one to the wait person.  Buffalo Wild Wings will tally up the ticket amounts and present Southern Utah Devil Pups with a donation of 10% of the tally on that date.  Our 2014 pup candidates will thank you for your support.  If you have questions, please contact Steve Handy at (435) 619-5064.

Hiking Boots for Camp

If you do not already have hiking books for Devil Pup camp, now would be a good time to get them and get them broken in.  Here is a photo of a boot that is a good camp boot – you will need protection for ankles with all the activities at camp.  Wear them every day for two or three hours to break them in.

Prepare for Trip to Southern California

We have had a question about hotels in Southern California for your overnight stay near Camp Pendleton on August 1.  Information on this was in the letter sent last week.  Please advise if you have not received the letter giving directions to Camp Pendleton.  Part of that letter included this paragraph:

"Travel time from St. George to Camp Pendleton is between six and seven hours.  It is recommended that parents travel on Friday (or earlier) to hotel/motel locations in Oceanside, Carlsbad, or preferably San Clemente, California.”

We don’t recommend a particular hotel – just a general area.  You should be able to find anything from a Super 8 to a Best Western or Marriott within driving distance of Camp Pendleton depending on your needs.
