Devil Pups is a non-profit organization designed to help teens 14-17 from all backgrounds gain self-confidence and learn to take responsibility for their actions. People wonder “Why the name Devil Pups?” The term “Devil Dogs” was used by German soldiers to describe Marines fighting in World War I. The Marines who organized this youth citizenship program chose the term “Devil Pups” to describe the quality of teen who can complete this program.

Awards Night Practice
Devil Pups - practice at Southern Utah Veterans Home at 7:00 p.m. tomorrow night - Thursday, September 22. Just a few minutes to go over the program.
Please arrive a few minutes early on Friday night (doors open at 6:00, so Sgt. Lewis suggests 5:30) to set up tables and maybe run thru it one more time. I will chat with Debra Clark Rozema and Les Covey about the layout of the tables to accommodate the Color Guard down the center, plus a "head table" for the Devil Pup, Inc. personnel which should be on the side closest to the door to accommodate Col. Toole coming in at 7:00 (possibly in a wheelchair). There will need to be a catering set up plus a cake and ice cream table. SUVH personnel will be available to assist if more tables/chairs are needed.

2016 Devil Pup Awards Night
2015 Graduates at Awards Night
Please remember our Devil Pup Awards Night program on Friday
evening, September 23rd. This year it
will be held at the Southern Utah Veterans Home in Ivins, where Col. Toole is
currently residing. We will have food
catered by Brick Oven in the Multi-Purpose Room, where we will also have an
award ceremony for Col. Toole as he retires from Devil Pups. Rich Linsday, President of Devil Pups, Inc.
and Col. Ray Blum, Devil Pups trustee and past Encampment Commander, both long time friends of Col. Toole, will attend, as will Heather Ham,
Devil Pups, Inc. coordinator. We are
looking forward to honoring our seven new graduates and celebrating Col.
Toole’s nearly 40 years of volunteer service to the Devil Pup program.
Doors open at 6:00, food at 6:30, program to begin at
7:00. Please be aware that Col. Toole
has had a couple small strokes and is suffering from dementia. He may be overwhelmed by this evening - a program that he’s poured his heart and soul into for so many years. I will bring him to the event at 7:00 for the program.
Devil Pups: Wear your Devil Pup uniform as above in the photo.

Please send me an e-mail if you plan to attend, letting me know
how many will be in your party. I want
to make sure you don’t leave hungry.
Thanks to all of you - let me know if you have questions.
