Prepare for Trip to Southern California

We have had a question about hotels in Southern California for your overnight stay near Camp Pendleton on August 1.  Information on this was in the letter sent last week.  Please advise if you have not received the letter giving directions to Camp Pendleton.  Part of that letter included this paragraph:

"Travel time from St. George to Camp Pendleton is between six and seven hours.  It is recommended that parents travel on Friday (or earlier) to hotel/motel locations in Oceanside, Carlsbad, or preferably San Clemente, California.”

We don’t recommend a particular hotel – just a general area.  You should be able to find anything from a Super 8 to a Best Western or Marriott within driving distance of Camp Pendleton depending on your needs.

PFT on Saturday

Reports from Saturday's PFT were very good - scores are improving!!  Here's a photo snapped with a couple defensive linemen who were very impressed with the Devil Pup program as well as our 2014 candidates.

The next PFT will be held on Saturday 17 May 2014.  Location:  Dixie High School Football Stadium.

Muster time 0715.

All Pup Candidates should be aware the attendance is MANDATORY.  It is a “No Show means No Go” program.

Honoring Veterans Work Day

Saturday, 3 May 2014, was a work day for Devil Pup candidates.  We located veteran graves and put an American flag by those graves.  Unfortunately, very few Pup candidates attended this event.  Candidates will need to attend ALL events for the rest of this program year to stay eligible for summer camp attendance.

Start downloading from the Devil Pups Website - Forms L2, L3, L5, R6, R7, R8, R9 and start filling them out so we can transfer the information to the SRBs (Service Record Books to be delivered to camp) in a few weeks.  You will also need to earn $100 toward camp expenses.  (This will be easy with a mentor to assist you.)

1.            Saturday May 3, 2014 - 0900 at the city cemetery for a clean-up and service project.

2.            Saturday May 17, 2014 - 0800 3rd PFT at Dixie High School

3.            Saturday May 24, 2014 - 1100- 4:00 p.m.-- Car Show fundraiser at Ricardo s Mexican Restaurant, 1110 So. Bluff Street

****We also need prizes from sponsors for this event, please go out and see if your barber, or friend at a restaurant, your mechanic, or someone else you know wants to donate to our program.  We will advertise for them!!! Yes, free Advertising!!!

26 Apr 2014 Washington County Sheriff’s Facility at 7:30 a.m.

Please note the new, earlier time.  We have pup candidates who need to get to work, so we are beginning earlier to accommodate those candidates.

PFT:  Contact Steve Handy to let him know you will be in attendance.  This is a mandatory PFT if you are wanting to be considered for Devil Pup camp 2014.

Remember your name tag and be ready to outperform your last score.

This Saturday is crucial:  As you recall, we can't take all candidates to Devil Pup camp this year, so after this PFT there will fewer Cadets.  Your performances will determine which candidates remain in the running.  If you miss out this year, you can apply next year if you are not over 17 at that time.  We appreciate all those who have made the effort to be at our fund raising activities, but the PFT score is the major deciding factor.  We are on your side and Col. Toole and myself will be cheering you on in these events.
